Definition

CRM (Customer Relationship Management) is software for tracking leads, contacts, accounts, and sales opportunities through a defined pipeline, from first contact through a won or lost decision.

02

Why it matters

A CRM that isn't connected to the rest of the business means a won deal has to be re-typed into a separate order or billing system — the exact handoff gap that causes lost deal context and delayed invoicing.

03

How it works

Leads are captured (often with source and campaign attribution), scored, and qualified through pipeline stages; a won opportunity typically becomes the source record for whatever comes next — a quotation, an order — in a connected system.

04

Example

A lead lands with source and campaign data intact, is scored and SLA-tracked automatically, and a single qualification action creates the account, contact, and opportunity together rather than three separate manual entries.

VERCENTLABS / APPLICATION

How the term becomes an operating control.

CRM is one of Vercentlabs' 12 modules — a won opportunity is the literal source record for a Sales quotation (carrying a source_opportunity_id reference), and confirming the resulting order writes the win status back to CRM automatically, part of the real Lead to Cash sequence.
